Five Amazing AirBnb Cabins in the Midwest

While I spend much of the year dreaming of and planning trips to the mountains, the Midwest is always going to feel like home to me. There’s something about the people here and the small town feel of everyone welcoming everyone that just makes it special. We have the best summers, four very different seasons, and tons of beautiful freshwater lakes. I think most people can agree when I say there’s nothing in the Midwest quite like a weekend away at the cabin. A place that feels cozy for people on the inside and lets you enjoy the beauty of nature on the outside, that’s just how we like it here. I’m sharing with you today my favorite AirBnb’s of the Midwest so that you can experience cabin life the same way we love to.

Morel Cottage A-Frame

The Morel Cottage is a cozy a-frame found in the woods just outside of Grayling, Michigan. It’s a quiet, peaceful property near the Huron-Manistee National Forest and the beautiful AuSable River. It features gorgeous wood tones, an open layout, and a loft bedroom - everything that gives an A-Frame that truly comfortable feel. Enjoy your morning coffee inside by the natural light or out by the fire pit, then head to one of several nearby spots to put in a canoe or tube for a river day. There’s multiple canoe liveries in the area, and Grayling is home to the famous AuSable River canoe marathon each July. It’s a perfect getaway any time of year for singles, couples, and small groups.

Glamping on the Farm

Near New Carlisle, Indiana and just outside of Indiana Dunes National Park and Weko Beach, you’ll find this adorable off-grid glamping site at a working farm. There’s solar-powered electricity, but no television or wifi. It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy some peace and quiet, and reconnect with the world. There’s two building facilities, one that houses the living room, dining room, and lofted bedroom, and another that has a bathroom and outdoor shower. The property has a fire pit and hanging hammocks. There’s also an outdoor dishwashing station, grill, and propane cooktop. You’ll be staying on a farm with access to the three-acres of woods, fields, and the running farm stand where you can grab fresh food. There’s plenty of trails nearby, breweries, and u-pick fruit stands as well. Plus, there’s three potbelly pigs roaming the property that are very friendly and you can say hi! What a great place for a unique, quiet, humble escape from reality.

The Ledge at Lost Cavern

If you’re looking for something a little less rugged, head over to the amazing Hocking Hills State Park in Logan, Ohio to stay at this beautiful cabin. It has floor-to-ceiling windows that allow you to feel submersed in nature your entire stay. Inside the cabin, there’s warm lighting to give you all the cozy feels of cabin life, but still feel pampered in the modern decor. There’s fireplaces inside and outside, plenty of seating inside and outside of the cabin, and several bedrooms and bathrooms. The cabin comfortably hosts six people. You’ll be just a short walk from numerous caverns, trails, and waterfalls so you can explore as you please and come back whenever you feel like. For someone who really loves to be outdoors, this cabin sure makes me want to hang out inside and take full advantage of the comforts of home. There’s also a large hot tub outside, heated floors, a smart TV, and games. What more could you ask for being just steps away from some of the most beautiful trails in the country?

Glass House Cabin

Another gorgeous stay in Hocking Hill, Ohio is this beautiful ‘glass cabin’. The entire living space has a wall of windows, allowing you to have beautiful panoramic views of the outdoors from anywhere inside. There’s games, a hot tub, patio, fire pit, and fire place. You can bring up to six people and it’s great for a weekend getaway where you can enjoy the gifts of nature, but come home to the feeling of luxury at the end of the day. It’s spacious and clean, but gives all the warm glow that a cabin should. All of the most popular attractions in Hocking Hills are very close by and easy if you want to come back to the cabin midday and then head back out. A great place for groups and for couples!

The Havens

A little over an hour north of Minneapolis you’ll find this adorable A-Frame that looks like it’s straight out of a fairytale. Charming is the only word I can use to describe it. The wall of windows allows great natural light into the area, and it’s complete with a full kitchen, lofted bedroom, and large bedroom on the main floor. One of the coolest things about this place is the property; you’ll be in a quiet, private plot of five acres deep in the woods. There’s a sauna on site as well as two outdoor fire rings, including one that’s right by the river. There’s canoes and kayaks available and since the cabin is right on the river, you can come and go as you please. It’s the kind of place you dream about when you think of a traditional summer day. A huge bonus is that this place is dog friendly!
